Richard Bergfors’ climate-positive burger chain

Max Premium Burgers was already considered a pioneer in climate and environmental awareness before the coronavirus crisis. After all, the chain’s food has been climate-positive since 2018. At the European Foodservice Summit 2021, CEO Richard Bergfors will show how his family business became a sustainability role model.

Richard Bergfors has been CEO of Max Burgers, Europe’s oldest burger chain, since 2002. The Swedish family business was founded by Bergfors’ parents in 1968. Max says it wants to become the best burger chain in the world by serving the tastiest burgers while also having a positive impact on society. But what do you do when your company’s main product is a climate killer?

Back in 2008, Max started climate labelling its menu and compensating for all emissions along the entire value chain. As a result, Max’s food range has been climate-positive since 2018. This means that the company compensates for more greenhouse gases than it emits.

At the European Foodservice Summit 2021, Bergfors will talk about how he built his climate-conscious burger chain. Watch this video now to see him explain the process:
