62nd International Retail Summit

6 - 7 September 2012

RADICAL RETAIL The ten biggest challenges for the future

New business models are emerging every day, but we usually take a long time to notice them. Who, ten years ago, would have thought that Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google would one day turn the retail world upside down? Today’s start-ups are tomorrow’s game-changers.

New players are writing new rules for new games – in order to win we have to help write these game rules. Sustainability is becoming a success factor that cannot be dismissed. And the digital revolution is creating a world shaped by the DIY culture, private shopping clubs and rapidly expanding e-commerce. There is no doubt about it: today’s retail sector is facing changes it has not experienced in decades.

So what next? Who are the game-changers? And is “small” really “the new big”? What will we be shopping for tomorrow? Business as usual is not the solution, nor are patchwork strategies – even a simple “reset” no longer does the trick.

At the 62nd International Retail Summit, we will outline the ten biggest challenges and how best to address them. We will showcase new approaches, international newcomers and exciting thought leaders. And we will feature established retailers who think out of the box and are now successfully breaking new ground.
