About us

The Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute is part of the "Im Grüene" Foundation. In accordance with the founder's wishes, the GDI is a non-profit organisation set up as a "place for reflection and encounters" and for the purpose of conducting "scientific research in the social and economic fields."

The GDI's researchers study mega-trends and countertrends and draw up scenarios for the future. Their findings are disseminated in a range of publications and discussed at specially organised events. As an independent, practice-oriented institution for the early identification of trends, the GDI focuses thematically on topics relating to retail and consumption.

The GDI is also a meeting place: it hosts leading thinkers and decision-makers at its conferences, collaborating with them in developing new ways of thinking and forward-looking ideas. And it organises events around current topics chosen with a broader public in mind. In addition, the GDI makes its spaces and infrastructure available for corporate or private events.
